Ophelia's All Day Café
Hi friends! This week, I’m sharing a short feature about the newest café to join the Fort Wayne food scene: Ophelia’s All Day Café. I included Ophelia’s in my where to eat Fort Wayne post (check that out here), but I want to share a few more details about this new cafe and cocktail spot in Wells Street Corridor.
Ophelia’s is located in the same house-turned-restaurant on Wells Street that was previously home to Bird + Cleaver, which closed during the pandemic (though rumor has it Bird + Cleaver will reopen in the Electric Works on Broadway building in downtown that is currently undergoing renovations/set to open in October of 2022.)
Anyways, Ophelia’s is a cafe + cocktail joint that reminds me of some of my favorite places in Austin, TX. They don’t have a website, but you can find all of their information by clicking here, including their Menu, Facebook page, online ordering, and a link to make a reservation, which I highly encourage doing, especially on weekends!
I stopped in on a weekday morning, and was pleasantly surprised to see how many people were also there! Because of this, I would highly recommend making a reservation. There isn’t a dedicated parking lot, so nearby street parking is your best bet. They do offer carryout service, so you can order a latte + a pastry to go if you don’t have time to stay. I brought my computer with me to do some work, and asked my server for the password. There was a mixture of working folks + folks there to dine, so either seemed okay.
During my visit, I ordered the fresh buttermilk biscuits, a vanilla latte, and the migas. This is a lot of food for one person, but it was absolutely all worth it and I would totally order it again! The biscuits are HUGE, and so fresh, so you could definitely just order biscuits and a coffee.
The house is charming and beautifully decorated inside. The front set of stairs to the second floor (which has more seating) are really steep, so I would ask to use the back stairs, which are not as steep! They also have a fenced in patio, which I think will be a huge hit in the summertime for a nightcap. Right across the street is Meraki Co, a new women’s boutique that has absolutely stunning items and is worth a stop. If you dine or shop, let me know how it was! Cheers!
